"dazzle gradually"

"Dazzle Gradually" 2017 poems, paintings, new art & photography--a diary, a discipline, a delight. Read over my shoulder as I post my unedited poetry ---you can see it in the raw or get my first book and see how the work evolves with new books rolling out next year.

Ash Wednesday Bird

Ash Wednesday Bird
Tall as my gray cat
the wednesday bird
peers at me
from his gutter.

Like the raven,
he brings back news
there is nowhere to land.

There is no rest, he cries,
only water
as far as the eye can see.

I reach into my pockets.
In the left, ashes,
In the right,
a seed.

What I wouldn’t give
for an olive branch,
a hope
that there was stiffener
for my wrinkled heart,
soggy with the gray days.
