Artist and Author, Polly Alice, earned her MFA in writing from Hamline University. She began writing poetry after visiting Israel and sleeping a cold January night in the desert with only a book for her pillow. Her first book of poetry, in a uniquely deep-rooted voice, asks: What do we need to survive? “Light, water, and the ability to imagine growth, --nothing is more powerful." In Kinlight, Polly’s lyrical poems, explore faith, loss, and the measures taken as a woman to become visible: “I will not forget. I am woman, all things began in me.” Readers will meet ghosts and vapors, fistfulls of flour ... and light. However subtle in color, her first book dives into bone and marrow of women in today’s America. Find her second book, Tea with Alice-- cast in her family’s Midwest Narrative-- for more work by this author. Polly has been published in Naugatuck River Review and Arc 24. She is the owner of New Thing Art Studio in downtown Overland Park, KS.
